About Sher-e-Kashmir University of Agricultural Sciences and Technology of Jammu
Sher-e-Kashmir University of Agricultural Sciences and Technology came into existence on 20 September 1999. It is established by an amendment in Sher-e-Kashmir University of Agricultural Sciences and Technology Act 1982 through the State legislature. The university started functioning initially with few assets and staff deployed at various stations and sub stations from erstwhile SKUAST (J&K) to carry on the mission of agriculture research and development. SKUAST-J is a multi-campus university with its headquarters located at Chatha and Jammu.

SKUAST (J&K) Facilities
Hostel Facilities - There are separate hostel accommodation for boys and girls are available at the RS Pura campus and one Girls hostel and One Boys Hostel are under construction at the main campus, Chatha.
Library Facilities - The University has two library systems comprises of Central Library (CL) at Faculty of Agriculture (FOA) Main Campus, Chatha and University Library at Faculty of Veterinary Sciences & Animal Husbandry (F.V.Sc. & AH), R.S. Pura. The libraries have a good collection of documents pertaining to Agricultural Sciences, Veterinary Sciences, Horticultural Sciences, Wildlife, Forestry and information science.
Scholarships - The University provides scholarships to needy and talented students. They are Merit Scholarship, Talent Scholarship through ICAR and JRF through ICAR.
Sports’ Facilities - The University offers good facilities for the students, both indoor and outdoor. The main indoor games are TT, Carom, Ludo, Chess etc. And there is RS Pura Centre has Sports ground for Cricket, Football, Volley Ball, Badminton, Athletics etc.
Medical Facilities - The University also offers medical facilities both for students and faculty members and university staff at both the campuses of the university. Health care facility is available during working hours at Chatha campus & Round the clock health coverage to the students, faculty members and staff at R. S. Pura campus.
Guest House - The SKUAST-Jammu has a Guest House which is located at Rail head complex, Jammu and it is approximately 500 meters away from Jammu Railway Station. It provides good facilities for visitors.
NCC / NSS - There are NCC and NSS facilities in the University for students. They can join NCC and NSS.
