About Mudra Institute of Communication (MICA), Ahmedabad
Mudra Institute of Communication (MICA), Ahmedabad was established by the Mudra Foundation for Communications Research and Education (MFFCRE) as a niche autonomous, not-for-profit management institution that caters to the specific needs of the media and communications businesses. Set up in Ahmedabad, MICA's programmes are approved by the All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE) and recognised by the Department of Science and Technology (DST), Government of India.
It is the first residential academic institution in India and perhaps in the Asia-Pacific region dedicated solely to the needs of the integrated marketing communications industry. Since 21 years, MICA has been successfully offering courses that integrate management education with modern and professional communications techniques.
MICA has maintained an excellent track record of producing students that can think 'out of the box'. The faculty members at the institute have been handpicked for their strong research and teaching skills while visiting faculty members share real-world insights of different industries with students.
Faculty
Professor Nagesh Rao is the Director of Mudra Institute of Communications, Ahmedabad. He is a doctorate and has about 20 years of experience in the education industry.
Facilities
The MICA campus is spread over 19 acres and has been designed for an exceptional student experience. There is a fully-equipped community centre for the students. A 24X7 library, canteens, and sports facilities and fitness centre are available too.
Since 1993, MICA's Knowledge and Exchange Information Centre is serving as a library with multimedia facilities for Advertising, Media, Marketing and Communications domains.
The entire campus is connected to a wireless network. The two academic blocks and the Digital Communications Centre house the administrative offices, seminar halls, classrooms, an auditorium, a conference or committee room, server control room, computer labs as well as the media lab.
MICA Vaani - a community radio station of the studio has a Recording & Broadcasting Studio, 9-screen Media Analytics lab (AMAP), 18-seater Video Conferencing room and an online studio with latest multimedia facilities.
Accommodation facilities are available for over 400 students.
MICA is recognised by the industry as an ultimate destination for professionals in the field of Integrated Marketing Communications. It has maintained a consistent track record of 100% placements for the past few years. Diverse companies recruit from MICA and many of its alumni hold some of the top managerial positions across companies in India and abroad.
Besides campus placements that are usually conducted at MICA around the month of December, the institute also offers summer placement opportunities in the areas of their interest for 8 to 10 weeks. Summer internships are mandatory during the summer break at the first year of the programme and hold credits towards diploma. Summer placement procedure usually takes place around September.
For students with substantial prior work experience, lateral placement facility is available where they are offered positions above the entry level at various organisations.
