About Mahatma Gandhi Mission Institute of Health Sciences - MGMIHS
Mahatma Gandhi Mission Institute of Health Sciences (MGMIHS) is a Deemed University. The Deemed University status was conferred to the Institutions namely MGM Medical College, Navi Mumbai and MGM Medical College, Aurangabad which were established in the year 1989 and 1990 respectively with permission of government of Maharashtra. The MBBS and Postgraduate Courses (MD/MS/PG Diploma) of the Colleges under reference as above have been recognized by Medical Council of India from time to time. As per the norms of UGC, MGM Institute of Health Sciences, Navi Mumbai is registered under Society under Societies Registration Act, 1860 as well as under Bombay Public Charitable trust Act with its Registration Number – Maharashtra-177/06 (Society Registration Act.) and Registration Number – F-5466 (Raigad) under BPT Act. The MGM Deemed University has been notified as a Deemed to be University i.e. “MGM Institute of Health Sciences” vide Notification No. F.9-21/2005-U.3 (A) dated 30.08.2006 issued by the Government of India, Ministry of Human Resource Development, Department of Higher Education, New Delhi. MGMIHS started officially functioning in 2006.

1. MGM Medical College, Navi Mumbai
2. MGM Medical College, Aurang
The Mahatma Gandhi Mission Trust is the parent body of MGMIHS which was established in 1982 by Hon. Shri Kamalkishore Kadam with a futuristic vision to provide qualitative education by applying innovative and dynamic pedagogical techniques. Since inception, the Trust has focused on providing Health Care Services, School Education and Higher Education with dedication and commitment.
Transportation
Air - Chhatrapati Shivaji International Airport, Mumbai is the closest airport to the university. Navi Mumbai is located just 30 km away from Chatrapati Shivaji International Airport. Cabs can be hired from airport to Navi Mumbai.
Train - The most important suburban railway stations in Navi Mumbai are Panvel, Vashi, Belapur and Nerul. The stations are planned as major railway junctions. Panvel is the only mainline station and also the busiest railway station of Navi Mumbai. All outstation trains halt here and it is connected to almost all parts of India. A new broad Gauge line is functional between Karjat and Panvel, and currently plies two express trains.
Bus - The most common forms of transportation in Navi Mumbai are the red NMMT buses and cabs or auto rickshaws.
Facilities
Hostels - Hostel facilities are available for boys, girls, interns and post graduate residents.
Central Library – It has a Layout and floor area of 25,000 Sq. Ft. It has a collection of about 20149 text books and it subscribes to various national and international journals
Mess - There is a Central Mess with in the campus and is available for students, patients and faculty.
Sports and Games – The institute provides facilities for various outdoor sports like – football, cricket, volley ball, badminton and throw ball. It also facilitates indoor games like table tennis, carom, chess and Taekwondo.
Gymnasium – A Gymnasium is available with ultra modern equipments in post graduate hostel.
