The Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Kanpur has expanded its Digital Literacy & Computational Thinking Concepts for Teachers (DLCCAI) programme to train 900 secondary school teachers across Uttar Pradesh. The initiative aims to strengthen digital education and help teachers integrate modern technology into classroom teaching.
The programme is being conducted in collaboration with the Uttar Pradesh Government and the State Council of Educational Research and Training (SCERT).
The programme will train 900 participants from all 75 districts of Uttar Pradesh in digital literacy, computational thinking, Artificial Intelligence (AI) and technology-enabled teaching.
The eight-week blended programme will be conducted in six batches of 150 participants each. It will combine classroom training at IIT Kanpur with online learning, mentoring and hands-on assignments.
As part of the programme, participants will learn digital tools, cybersecurity, Scratch, Python, AI, EdTech, and Robotics. The training will focus on applying these technologies in teaching and academic work.
Prof. Ramkumar J., Coordinator of the DLCCAI Programme; Prof. Satyaki Roy, Head, Department of [dodiitk] and Academic Head, DLCCAI; and Prof. Vimal Kumar, Professor-in-Charge, Office of Outreach Activities, IIT Kanpur, are leading the expansion of the programme to secondary education.
The initiative builds on the earlier training of 750 primary school teachers, which helped enable technology-supported learning for more than 10,000 students.
The DLCCAI curriculum has also been embedded in SCERT's Class 6โ8 textbooks, reaching an estimated 48 lakh students across Uttar Pradesh.
Videos were also showcased during the initiative, highlighting how teachers who participated in the programme last year used their learnings beyond the classroom and applied digital skills to create a wider impact in their schools and communities.
Aligned with the objectives of the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020, the programme aims to equip teachers with the skills and confidence to integrate digital and computational concepts into classroom teaching.
