About Jagannath University

Jagan Nath University is a Private State University of Unitary Nature, having no affiliated colleges under it as of 2016. It has been established in the year 2008, by an Act No. 19 of 2008 of the Rajasthan State Legislature and is approved under section 2(f) of UGC Act, 1956. It is fully self financed and receives no grant from State or Central government. Jagan Nath University is promoted by Jagan Nath Gupta Memorial Educational Society. The Society has been established in the memory of Late Shri Jagan Nath Gupta, an industrialist, educationist, a great visionary and social reformer. Jagan Nath University has 2 Campuses the Main Campus is at Chaksu Byepass and the other at Sitapura. The area of both the campuses spreads over 45 acres of land. It is vested with the authority to award Degrees, Diplomas and Certificates. The University has been established to cater to the growing needs of higher education in the country. Jagan Nath University is a member of Association of Indian Universities (A.I.U.). It is recognized by Council of Architecture (CoA), The Indian Institute of Architect (IIA), Bar Council of India (BCI), Distance Education Council (Now Distance Education Bureau). All the courses in the University follow semester system. The University is equipped with all modern facilities like dedicated transport system between the Jaipur City and the Campus, seminars, workshops, guest lectures, technology-enhanced learning, microcomputer controlled data acquisition systems and student projects, water treatment plant, sewage treatment plant for water, land filling for solid waste disposal amongst many others.

Facilities at JNU

Hostels - The University has 4 separate hostels for boys and girls. The 3 boy’s hostels can accommodate 150 students and the 1 girl’s hostel has capacity of accommodating 84 students. The hostel rooms are spacious, well furnished and are provided with LAN connectivity with 24 hours internet facility, reading rooms with dailies and magazines and additional indoor sports facilities.

Classrooms - The classrooms are equipped with internet connectivity and hi-tech multimedia and audiovisual equipments to facilitate effective learning.

Library – The University Library has a good collection of text and reference books, national and international periodicals, journals, thesis, dissertations, CDs, project reports, government publications, reports and newsletters. The library has a special collection of prescribed text books called ‘Book Bank’. The library has access to financial database of CMIE’s Prowess.

Laboratories – Various departments of the University have well equipped separate laboratories for teaching and research. The university also has micro computer based laboratory which allows the detailed analysis and interpretation of acquired data for our students.

Scholarships – The University offers various scholarships.

IT Centre - The Information Technology laboratories have high speed computer and fast networking system. The IT centre is equipped with scanners, LCDs, laser printers, combo drives and Web- Cam for video conferencing and related purposes.

ATM - Canara Bank has its ATM available in the campus.

Sports and Games -The University sports and games facilities include playgrounds and courts for various games such as cricket, football, basketball, volleyball, badminton, well equipped gymnasium and facilities for indoor games.

Cafeteria – The University Cafeteria not only provides food but also acts as a hub for socialising.

Transport – The University has a number of transport buses which cover all nearby neighbourhoods, including local communities and townships lying within the radius of 50km.

Medical Facilities – The Medical Centre is fully equipped with all necessary equipments for first aid, general check-ups and ambulance facility for critical illness. Doctors and nurses are available on shift basis to provide all support to the hostellers, day scholars and staffs of the University. The university has tie-ups with Narayana Multispeciality Hospital, Jaipur and Health Vision, Jaipur for medical emergencies and serious cases.

Research - The curriculum of Jagan Nath University aims to promote research capabilities of students by emphasizing on analytical and methodological aspects from the bachelor’s level itself. Projects/dissertations are compulsory components in the curriculum to expose students to research.

Industrial and Corporate visits – These provide vital information about the organization, its performances and various functioning process. It also enables to understand the internal working environment the students are exposed to the corporate working environment.

Summer Internships – The students are required to undergo summer internship for a period of 6 to 8 weeks with reputed companies. These enable them to understand theoretical concepts learned at university in a real life corporate context.

Live Working Projects - Working on live and time-bound projects gives the students firsthand experience of the business and market. The students undergo various projects like awareness, consumer preferences, comparison of products and services related projects.

Placement Cell – The cell conducts Intensive Training Program (ITP) aiming for placements.

This program covers -

• Workshops by Corporate trainers and business experts
• Conduction of mock placement drives which includes - aptitude test, group discussion, personal interview etc.
• Personality Development Sessions focussing on both verbal and non verbal behaviours
• Business etiquettes for consistent endeavour towards academic and corporate interaction

Seminar Halls – The University has 2 seminar halls, one with seating capacity of 30 and the other with capacity of 100. These are equipped with modern acoustics and excellent audio visual aids. The hall is used for organizing interactive sessions, seminars, symposiums and presentations by the experts from the academic and corporate world.

Conference Room - The University has a large conference room which is well equipped with audio-visual and presentation tools to facilitate presentation. All interactive sessions and interface with experts from corporate world take place in this hall.

Auditorium – It has a seating capacity of 500 people and is equipped with LCD Projector, Internet and PA System.
