Established in the year 1994, Indian Institute of Technology, Guwahati (IITG) is the sixth member of the IIT fraternity. A center of excellence for technical education, IIT Guwahati has 11 departments and 3 inter-disciplinary academic centers that cover all major engineering, science and humanities disciplines. Sprawled across a 285 hectares plot of land on the north bank of the river Brahmaputra, IIT Guwahati has a state of the art campus with all the essential facilities of international standard that includes smart classrooms, advanced labs, hostels, etc.
Moreover, IIT Guwahati has a strong academic support group that includes more than 215 faculty members who are highly qualified and dedicated towards providing the best technical education. IITG offers B. Tech, B. Des, M.A, M. Des, M. Tech, M.Sc. and PhD programmes and is currently providing these programmes to 1300 under graduate and approximately 500 post graduate students. Apart from the strong infrastructural and academic support, IIT Guwahati also has an active Training and Placement Cell that takes care of the campus placements for the graduates.
