Along with other well wishers of the vidyalaya the board of governors of the KVS approved the proposal to establish a school at mandapam. Accordingly this vidyalaya was established in 1987 , admitting children in classes 1 to 6. for about a decade the vidyalaya was functioning in the CMFRI building. In April 1997, the vidyalaya was shifted to the present building complex exclusively constructed for the school at a cost of Rs.2.7 crores in 15 acres of land. This building is situated near NH 49 . Mandapam is situated 3 kms in the east. Ramnad district head quarter is situated 40 kms in the west .
