Every programme is delivered in one of three UGC-approved modes — pick the one that fits how you actually learn best, not just what sounds most convenient.
"Online mode meant I never had to explain a fixed class schedule to my manager — I studied entirely around my job."
"The Hybrid Executive MBA's short campus immersion turned out to be the best part — real networking I couldn't get fully online."
"I preferred ODL's structure — having periodic contact sessions kept me on track in a way fully online might not have."
Online mode is delivered entirely through a digital learning platform — video lessons, live or recorded classes, digital assignments, and online assessments, with no physical material or in-person requirement at all. ODL (Open & Distance Learning) is the more traditional distance-education format: printed or digital study material paired with periodic contact classes, often at designated study centres, giving learners a bit more structure and scheduled touchpoints.
Hybrid programmes combine online coursework with an optional or short required campus immersion — useful for programmes where lab access, networking, or in-person mentorship genuinely adds value, such as our Executive Programs and certain technical specialisations. The academic credit and degree recognition are identical to a fully Online programme; Hybrid simply layers a brief in-person component on top.
Both Online and ODL modes require UGC-DEB approval to be considered valid distance-mode qualifications, so validity isn't the deciding factor between them — comfort with self-directed digital learning versus scheduled structure usually is. If your field benefits from labs, cohort networking, or in-person mentorship, Hybrid is worth the extra logistics; if maximum flexibility around a job or family commitment matters most, fully Online is typically the better fit.
No — the academic credit and degree recognition are identical. Hybrid simply adds an optional or short mandatory in-person component (like a campus immersion) on top of primarily online delivery.
This depends on the specific university's policy — some allow switching between Online and ODL within the same programme, others don't. Check with admissions before applying if this matters to you.
Yes — both Online and ODL modes require UGC-DEB approval for the specific programme to be considered a valid distance-mode qualification.
Online mode is generally the most flexible for working professionals since it has no fixed in-person requirement, though Hybrid programmes with a short, well-planned campus immersion can also work well if scheduled around your job.
