Established in the year 1993, SDMIMD is a segment of Sri Dharmasthala Manjunatheshwara Education Trust (Regd), Ujire, Karnataka. The institute operated under the leadership of its Chairman, Padma Bhooshana Dr D Veerendra Heggade who is a well known philanthropist in Karnataka residing at the pilgrimage place Dharmasthala.
SDMIMD was instituted with the aim to bridge the gap right below IIMs and well above the remaining management institutes. The infrastructure, curriculum and teaching pedagogy followed by SDMIMD are based on the IIM model. Even though the institute has graduated only 15 batches till now, it has produced graduates who are currently working at senior managerial levels at top notched companies like TCS, Infosys, Sify, Bosch, etc.
The institute offers AICTE approved PGDM which stands apart from other similar programmes offered elsewhere in terms of emphasis given to the Ethics and Values both in theory and practice. The institute management stands firm behind these values and has been exemplary in the field of education, microfinance and social development.
